At Gas Bijoux, every piece of jewellery tells a story — the story of the hands that shaped it, the light that inspired it, and the person who wears it. This FAQ has been designed to guide you at every step: discovery, selection, care and passing it on.
The Gas Bijoux Maison
Yes. Every creation comes to life in our atelier in the heart of Marseille. Since 1969, our artisans have crafted each piece entirely by hand, guided by five founding gestures inscribed in the Maison's intangible heritage: enamelling, wrapping, knotting, stone-setting and hammering. Some of our artisans have been working here for over 40 years. Gas Bijoux has held the Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant label — awarded by the French State — since 2011, and has had it renewed twice.
In Marseille, at our family Atelier in the heart of the city, where it all began in 1969.
This 500 m² Atelier is the beating heart of Gas Bijoux: 70 artisan-creators work here. Pieces are set, engraved, polished, hammered, brushed, patinated, strung, packaged, enamelled or
woven by hand. Electroplating (gold and silver baths) is carried out off-site, entrusted to a Reach-certified French expert.
Gas Bijoux has inscribed five founding gestures into its intangible heritage. Enamelling: pigments mixed by hand and applied with a needle, without firing — a unique technique known as "cold enamel." Wrapping: dressing a piece by winding threads, leathers or materials in a precise sequence. Knotting: weaving intricate knot patterns using raphia — up to 10 metres of material and 1.5 hours of work for certain creations. Stone-setting: securing stones within the metal (claw setting, closed setting or half-closed setting). Hammering: striking brass with small, precise blows to give it relief, texture and character.
Gas Bijoux practises high fashion jewellery, sitting at the intersection of fine jewellery and artisan creation. The Maison stands apart through its exceptional craftsmanship (55 years of expertise, EPV label), its richness of noble materials (acetate, rock crystal, Madagascar raffia, Thai mother-of-pearl, feathers, Jaipur stones), its philosophy of fair pricing that honours artisanal work with no promotions or sales, and a family legacy embodied by three generations of the Gas family since 1969.
The Seconde Vie programme allows you to bring Gas pieces from previous collections into any store in exchange for a discount voucher towards a new purchase. Gas Bijoux transforms them in the Atelier: re-enamelling, new dressing, upcycling — in keeping with the Maison's credo: "Nothing is lost, everything is transformed." Pieces acquired through this programme are excluded from the standard warranty.
Yes. Local production (atelier at the heart of Marseille), fair pricing with no promotions or sales, a Second Life programme, and 3 artisans dedicated to restoration. Ethical sourcing: partnerships with Madagascar (raffia), the Andes (alpaca), feathers from a French supplier committed to animal welfare, and predominantly recycled gold. Gas Bijoux co-created the first fine fantasy jewelry diploma in France, delivered since September 2024 across 12 institutions.
Yes. Gas Bijoux has held the Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (EPV) certification — a French state label — since 2011, renewed twice. Gas Bijoux is the only fine fantasy jewelry maison in France to hold this distinction.
Gas Bijoux Materials
Gas Bijoux pieces are crafted primarily in brass and pewter, then treated through electroplating in baths of fine gold (predominantly recycled, up to 5 microns for rings) or silver. Our jewelry complies with European REACH standards, regularly verified through laboratory testing.
Yes. Gas Bijoux predominantly uses recycled gold for its plating baths, as part of its responsible production policy.
Gas Bijoux places the greatest importance on the safety of those who wear its pieces. The posts of our earrings are crafted in solid silver, coated in fine gold on gold-finish models — significantly reducing the risk of allergic reaction. Solid silver is widely recognised for its excellent skin tolerance. Our jewellery also complies with European REACH regulations. If you have a known sensitivity to metals, please consult a dermatologist.
Acetate is a signature material of André Gas — one of the first jewellery designers to embrace it. Derived from wood pulp and cotton linters, it is a noble alternative to plastic: durable, resilient, and hypoallergenic, available in vivid,
velvety, marbled, or translucent hues. Gas Bijoux sources its acetate from the artisans of Oyonnax. Acetate jewellery is covered by a 6-month warranty.
Gas Bijoux uses stabilised turquoise: a genuine natural turquoise reinforced through the impregnation of a colourless resin. Stabilisation preserves its colour and enables fine artisan craftsmanship. It is one of the most emblematic materials of Gas Bijoux, a tribute to Native American jewellery traditions.
Gas Bijoux sources its feathers from a French supplier who works with the great Maisons, in full compliance with animal welfare standards. The feathers come from selected domestic birds: turkey, rooster, partridge, and goose. They are dyed in colour baths according to each collection, then individually selected and hand-trimmed (the down is removed, leaving only the ornamental quill) before being set into the jewellery.
A piece of jewellery lives with you. Its tone may evolve slightly over time depending on its exposure to air, moisture, skin and everyday products. This natural patina is part of the life and story of each piece. Regular care helps preserve its original brilliance over time.
Style & Inspiration
Gold is a light you wear. Opt for a delicate piece — a chain bracelet, a close-fitting necklace — for an understated look, or build bolder compositions through layering. The Gas spirit since 1969: a spontaneous mix-and-match, an artfully effortless pairing of motifs and materials, embraced by those with a flair for styling who delight in accumulating jewels like treasures brought back from their travels.
Layering is a Gas Bijoux signature since its very beginnings. Start with a timeless statement piece — Strada bangle, long necklace, oversized hoop — then build with finer complementary pieces. Mix materials (coloured enamel, bare gold-plated metal, raffia, stones) within a cohesive palette. The Gas Bijoux rule: each piece must stand alone while engaging in dialogue with the others.
The Strada bracelet (1985): adjustable link, reinterpreted each season with its matching ring.
The Massai bracelet (2010): a braid of leather threads, cotton, lurex and fine chains.
The Sari bracelet: an open bangle finished with beads.
The Duality Scaramouche bracelet: an enamelled scarab, the world's oldest lucky charm.
The enamelled cross (1975): the founding piece of the Maison.
A Gas Bijoux piece is an object meant to be passed down and cherished. For a timeless gift: gold hoop earrings, bangle bracelets, fine chain necklaces. For a signature piece: Massai bracelet, Strada, enamelled cross sautoir. Personalisation (engraving) and gift cards are available.
Yes. Since 2017, Gas Bijoux has been creating travel-companion talismans for men. For children, mini versions of bracelets and necklaces bring the Maison's signature themes to life in smaller scales. The Maison also offers a DIY kit for budding young artisans.

Care & Longevity
Moisture and chemicals are your jewellery's greatest enemies. Avoid contact with water (swimming pools, the sea, the shower), perfumes, cosmetics, alcohol and acids. Always put your jewellery on after applying makeup and fragrance. After each wear, wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Store in the original box. Any adjustable piece should be slipped on and off gently — never force it by pulling apart or pressing together.
Clean using a soft brush and cold water with a small amount of mild soap (Marseille soap preferred). Rinse with cold, clear water. Dry thoroughly — never use hot water. When using forced air to dry, use cold air only. The impregnated chamois cloths available on gasbijoux.com are highly effective for regular upkeep.
Yes. Gas Bijoux pieces are designed to be worn every day. To preserve their radiance over time, avoid prolonged contact with water, cosmetic products or abrasive friction. Like any precious object, a piece of jewellery deserves
particular care.
No. Salt water, chlorine, perspiration and prolonged moisture are harmful to Gas Bijoux jewelry. They accelerate oxidation, tarnish gilding and can cause irreversible damage to delicate materials: feathers, enamels, mother-of-pearl, acetate.
In practice: remove your jewelry before showering, going to the beach, swimming, exercising, and sleeping. Always apply perfume and cosmetics before putting on your jewelry.
Fine gold plating is a precious layer applied to the surface of the piece. Over time and with wear (friction, perspiration, water, products), it may naturally fade. This is entirely normal. A re-gilding service is available in our Atelier to restore your jewellery to its full brilliance.
The green residue is a natural oxidation process — a chemical reaction between brass, perspiration, cosmetic residue and moisture. It is not a manufacturing defect. Cleaning with cold soapy water will often remove it. Regular care with an impregnated chamois cloth slows down this process. Our Atelier also offers professional cleaning in a bath.
Gas Bijoux uses cold enamel (pigments applied without high-temperature firing). These enamels are delicate: they can tarnish or crack upon contact with perfume or alcohol. Avoid any contact with these substances. Clean with a dry cloth only. Never place an enamelled piece in a tumble polisher. Store separately from other jewellery.
Gently brush with a soft, dry toothbrush — never with water. Never bend the central rib, as this will cause irreversible damage. Avoid any contact with alcohol-based products. Store flat, away from direct light.
To prevent oxidation, store your jewellery in its original pouch or box, away from air and light. A piece kept safely in its case will retain its gold plating far longer. Never store multiple pieces together without protection — friction damages both enamels and gilding.
Yes. Gas Bijoux jewellery is designed to accompany you every day. To preserve its brilliance over time, it is recommended to avoid repeated contact with water, cosmetic products, or intense friction. Like any treasured object, a jewel deserves a little extra care.
Fine gold plating is a precious layer applied to the surface of the piece. Over time and with wear (friction, perspiration, water, products), it may naturally fade. This is entirely normal. A re-gilding service is available at our partner laboratory to restore your jewellery to its full brilliance.
Gold plating is covered by our 2-year warranty, subject to proper use — please include your proof of purchase.
Repairs & After-Sales Service
2-year warranty from the date of purchase, covering manufacturing defects. In the event of a defect, your piece will be repaired, replaced, or exchanged free of charge following assessment, upon presentation of proof of purchase.
Specific cases: acetate jewellery warranted for 6 months. Rhinestones are not covered by the warranty beyond 6 months from purchase. Seconde Vie jewellery is excluded from the warranty. Lucky charm bracelets (cords) are excluded from the general after-sales service — only cord replacement is covered.
Gold and silver plating are covered subject to proper use (please include proof of purchase). → Submit an after-sales request: gasbijoux.com/contact (section: After-Sales – Repair enquiry).
Yes. The Atelier at the heart of Marseille offers a comprehensive after-sales service: soldering, enamelling, stone-setting, re-gilding, feather-work, and braiding. Three dedicated artisans handle all restoration work.
To submit a request: bring your piece along with proof of purchase to a Gas Bijoux boutique or corner. Gas Bijoux boutiques and corners accept all Gas Bijoux after-sales requests regardless of the original place of purchase, upon presentation of a dated proof of purchase. Authorised multi-brand retailers generally only handle jewellery purchased in their own store.
You may also contact our after-sales service directly via gasbijoux.com/contact (subject: After-Sales – Repair).
Lead times are estimated from the date the piece is received at the Atelier in Marseille, not from the date it is dropped off in store (please allow for transit time, which is generally once a month for stores outside Paris).
Minor repairs (cleaning, rhinestone regluing): approximately 15 days. Complex repairs (soldering, re-gilding, setting replacement, restringing): 4 to 8 weeks. These lead times may be extended during annual closures.
The Gas Bijoux after-sales service carries a 6-month guarantee from the date the piece is returned to you, for the same issue identified.
Yes. The Gas Bijoux atelier can work on pieces from the Maison, even those purchased 10, 15 or 20 years ago, subject to technical feasibility.
For a piece over 3 years old requiring a full restoration (gilding, enamel, re-stringing…), the rate is approximately 40% of the original retail price. For a simple piece (gold or silver plating only), pricing starts from €30.
A quote is systematically provided for any repair exceeding €35. Gas Bijoux may decline a repair if restoring the piece in keeping with its original spirit is not possible, or if the necessary components are no longer available.
Yes. Gas Bijoux offers a re-gilding service (fine gold plating) and a re-silvering service. These treatments are carried out by an independent French laboratory partnering with Gas Bijoux, certified Reach — which accounts for the pricing and guarantees the quality of the treatment.
This service is chargeable (from €30 depending on the piece, estimated lead time 8 weeks) and is not available for cord bracelets. The gilding is covered by our 2-year warranty, subject to proper use (proof of purchase required).
Important: pieces featuring loose feathers cannot be immersed in a treatment bath. Only styles where feathers are integrated into the body of the jewel (Sao, Bermude, Irène) are eligible for this service.
Rhinestones and cabochons are set using professional jewellery-grade adhesives. Their bond can be weakened by contact with chemical products (perfume, alcohol, cosmetics) and repeated micro-impacts.
Rhinestones are not covered by the Gas Bijoux warranty beyond 6 months from purchase. Replacement is however possible in our Atelier (approximately 15 days) — the repair is warranted for 6 months from the date of return, for the same rhinestone in the same setting.
For routine care: gently buff with a soft, dry cloth or an impregnated chamois cloth (available in boutiques and on gasbijoux.com). This is sufficient in most cases.
For a deeper clean: soft brush + slightly soapy cold water (Marseille soap), rinse with cold water, dry immediately and thoroughly. Never use hot water. If blow-drying, use cold air only.
By material — Feathers: a soft, dry toothbrush. Stones and mother-of-pearl: monoï oil on a chamois cloth. Enamels and rhinestones: dry cloth only, never a tumble polisher. Acetate: dry cloth, no products.
Conversion between clip and post fittings is possible on selected styles, from €12. The price may vary depending on the complexity of the work: some styles require soldering, enamel refinishing, or rhinestone replacement.
This conversion is not possible on all enamelled styles (sequin, tornado, illusion, fan…). Please contact our after-sales service or visit a store to assess the feasibility for your piece.
Some pieces can be adjusted in length depending on their construction. Chain or link pieces are generally adjustable. Pieces with wire wrapping, braiding, or raffia typically cannot be altered. Please contact our after-sales team with a photo for an assessment.
The cost of a repair depends on the nature of the work required (re-gilding, rhinestone replacement, soldering, re-stringing, etc.). A quote is systematically provided before any repair exceeding €35. Basic repairs start from €10 (cleaning) and €15 (rhinestone bonding, cord replacement). Re-gilding starts from €30.
